To strengthen community policing and ensure peace in Southern Kaduna, the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, CP Rabiu Muhammad, has paid a courtesy visit to key traditional rulers and stakeholders in the region.
During the visit, the CP who met with the Emir of Jema’a, Alhaji Muhammad Isa Muhammadu II, and the Traditional Head of Kogoro Chiefdom, Dr. Ufuwai Bonet, emphasized the importance of collaboration between security agencies and traditional institutions in maintaining peace, particularly as the farming season begins.
He urged communities to remain vigilant and work together to prevent conflicts, especially between herders and farmers, to ensure food security and economic stability.
In a high-level meeting with local government officials, religious leaders and police divisional heads at the Kafanchan Area Command, the commissioner called for unity, dialogue, and proactive measures to resolve disputes and sustain harmony in the region.
The police command reassured residents of its commitment to a safer Kaduna State under the vision of IGP Kayode Egbetokun and Governor Uba Sani’s non-kinetic approach to crime prevention.
Meanwhile, Kaduna State Government has restated the need for collaborative efforts in bring permanent solutions to the problems that hampers the socio-economic development of the North West.
The state Governor, Senator Uba Sani stated this when he hosted the Governors of the North West on a routine meeting held at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna.
Governor Sani explained that, the North West Governors Forum has been working closely with development partners like the United Nations Development Fund and the world bank among others to find lasting solutions to issues of insecurity, poverty and unemployment.
He expressed satisfaction with the achievements so far recorded by the forum, restating the need to maintain the tempo.
Addressing newsmen shortly after the close-door meeting, the Chairman, North West Governors Forum who is also the Governor of Katsina State, Umar Dikko Radda said vital issues were discussed including the establishment of Federal Medical University in Funtua and ways to address the excessive use of drugs in the region.
The meeting had in attendance the Kaduna State Governor and his counterparts from Katsina, Jigawa and Sokoto states.
