Ahmadu Bello University (A.B.U) Zaria is to establish a leadership centre for mentoring and breeding quality future leaders in the country.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Adamu Ahmed disclosed this at a Youth Leadership Development Conference for some selected students held at the institution.
Professor Ahmed explained that the conference jointly organised by the Institute of Education, ABU, and a Foundation, was aimed at harnessing leadership potentials in youth with a view to mentoring and promoting quality in their future aspiration as leaders.
He noted that most Nigerian universities lacked a structured programme for training future leaders, focusing mainly on certificate awards.
While applauding both the institute and the foundation, the Vice Chancellor of A.B.U also appreciated the selection of twenty students, and the university, for the training programme.
