House of Reps sets committee to investigate CNG policy implementation

Ad-hoc committee

An ad-hoc committee has been constituted by the House of Representatives to investigate the Federal Government’s implementation of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Policy across the country.

Speaking in Abuja, the Chairman of the committee, Ahmadu Jaha said that the task of the Committee includes assessing the safety, viability and sustainability of the CNG policy in Nigeria.

Jaha stated that the Committee has already done everything possible in ensuring that CNG centres are fairly distributed across the six geo-political zones across the country.

He pledged the readiness of the committee to engage relevant agencies of government, International Oil Companies and other stakeholders to ensure that the nation’s policy on CNG meets global best practices.

Jaha pointed out that the committee will also determine the adequacy of existing regulatory and legal frameworks governing the implementation of the CNG policy and recommend appropriate legislative measures to the House for further action.
