Corp members deployed to Sokoto state have been urged to strengthen their positive impact on the lives of Nigerians.
The state Governor, Ahmed Aliyu gave the charge during the swearing-in of the 2025 Batch A Stream II orientation course for corps members at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Wamakko, Wamakko local government area of the state.
Governor Aliyu assured the corps members that his administration would prioritise their welfare and security, and urged them to see Sokoto State as a fertile ground to uphold the values of the NYSC scheme.
Represented by the commissioner for youth & sports and social development, Mustapha Muhammad, the governor called on the corps members to steer clear of social vices such as cultism, drug abuse and misconduct.
He lauded the NYSC management for its role in shaping and mentoring Nigerian youths to align with government policies and programmes, highlighting how the scheme has significantly contributed to the nation’s growth and development across various sectors.
Speaking, the NYSC state coordinator, Yakubu Usman, advised the corps members to embrace discipline and adapt to the regimented camp lifestyle.
He explained that the orientation exercise was designed to prepare them physically and mentally for meaningful contributions to national development.
The NYSC coordinator expressed gratitude to the governor and the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Abubakar III, for their unwavering support to the scheme.
