As part of continuous efforts to mitigate climate change impact in the state, Kaduna State Government has convened a two-day stakeholders’ technical session to develop an inclusive policy implementation framework.
Organized by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources With support from Partnership for Agile Governance and Climate Change Engagement (PACE), the session brought together critical stakeholders to deliberate on practical strategies to reduce climate change impact in agriculture and the environment.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Abubakar Buba, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Linda Yakubu, said the objective of the session is to examine existing strategies and strengthen efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change in Kaduna State.
She described the discussions are timely as climate change continues to affect food production and natural resources, making it imperative for the state to adopt coordinated and inclusive measures.
On his part, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Climate Change, Yusuf Idris Amoke, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring the effective implementation of a robust climate action plan, noting that the ultimate goal is for Kaduna to emerge as a leading state in climate change advocacy and action in Nigeria.
Some of the participants emphasized the importance of the session given the nature of climate change induce crisis bedeviling the country.
The outcome of the two-day technical session is expected to provide a clear roadmap for sustainable environmental management and resilience against the impacts of climate change across the state.
