National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has recorded over two hundred and seventy-five thousand human rights violations in May, a five-per cent increase from the previous month.
The Executive Secretary of the commission, Tony Ojukwu disclosed this at the monthly dashboard presentation at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
He identified issues such as escalating sexual violence and brutal attacks among the reported cases.
The Executive Secretary said the commission recorded over two hundred and sixty-one, violations in April.
Presenting the dashboard report, the Senior Adviser to the NHRC, Hilary Ogbonna, said in the month under focus, the North-west leads in complaints listed with over eighty-one cases, followed by the North-central, with over seventy-two cases.
