Flood has destroyed property worth millions of naira in Manchok, Kaura local government area of Kaduna state.
The flood which ensued after a heavy down pour that lasted for several hours on Tuesday affected many houses including food items, farm lands and livestocks.
The council Chairman, Kaura local government area, Mr. Sankyai Obadiah during a visit to the victims of the flood around Bantex centre, in Manchok, sympathised with the families affected by the disaster.
Represented by the council's vice-chairman, Mr.Bala Benjamin Nkut described the damage done by the flood as disturbing and advised the victims to accept it in good faith.
He said though no human life was lost, the volume of the damage done was unquantifiable as food items, farm land, animals and household utensils were destroyed.
The chairman said the council would meet with community leaders and other stakeholders on how to tackle the problem of flooding that occurred as a result of lukewarm attitude of some people who farm or build houses on water ways.
On her part, the councilor representing Manchok ward in the Kaura local government council, Mrs Justina Nechodemus and the chairman Moroa Development Association, Manchok branch, Mr Turman Musa Aniya, called for the completion of the abandoned road project in the community which they said was responsible for the flood
Also, one of the victims, Mrs Joshiphine Vincent who said the sad incident is the second scenario this year appealed to the government to come to their aid by providing them with relief materials as well as addressing the problem of lack of drainages associated to the abandoned road project in the area for free flow of water.
