A three-storey uncompleted building has collapsed in Abedi, Sabon Gari area of Fagge Local Government Area, Kano State, killing four people and injuring seven others.
Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Nuraddeen Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Monday, after hours of search and rescue operations coordinated by its Kano Territorial Office, said the building came down at about 6:49 p.m. after a prolonged downpour.
Abdullahi said eyewitnesses reported that several people were inside the structure when it gave way, many of whom were trapped under the debris.
He explained that emergency operations have since been concluded at the scene, while authorities are expected to carry out a structural assessment to determine the cause of the collapse and safeguard nearby buildings.
