The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy says the 2025 edition of the National Festival of Arts and Culture has been postponed.
Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa, who disclosed the postponement in a statement in Abuja, said the festival, which was to be hosted by Enugu State, was scheduled to begin on November 22.
She said the decision followed a careful assessment of the national mood amid rising insecurity across various parts of the country, and to stand with the families of the victims of the unfortunate incidents.
The Minister emphasised that the decision reflects values of empathy, national unity, and collective sensitivity, noting that a new date for NAFEST 2025 will be announced following further consultations with stakeholders, including security agencies.
While appreciating the understanding and support of participating states, cultural troupes, partners, and the Nigerian public, the minister stressed unwavering commitment to showcasing Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity.
