In a move aligned with the Kaduna State Government’s ongoing efforts to reduce poverty, create jobs, and expand economic opportunities, the Dr. Aminu Zaria Skills Acquisition Training Centre has trained over 1,000 youths and women across Chikun and Kajuru Local Government Areas.
The graduation event, held at Sabon Tasha, Chikun local government area, marked a significant milestone in the centres’ mission to empower community members with practical knowledge that can drive self-reliance, job creation, and economic growth.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Aminu Zaria emphasised that the initiative was designed to complement the State Government’s development agenda, particularly in human capital development and poverty alleviation.
The Former lawmaker, Igabi constituency, Abubakar Mamadi commended the programme for its tangible impact, emphasizing that skill development remains one of the most effective tools for tackling unemployment.
On his part, the Chairmen of Chikun and Kajuru LGAs, Dauda Madaki and Salasi Nuhu Musa reaffirmed their commitment to supporting community-based empowerment programmes.
The Member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Chikun Constituency, Mr. Jesse David described the project as a “timely intervention,” stressing that the empowerment of women and youth is critical for sustainable development in the state.
The coordinator of the program, Special Assistant to the Governor on social investment, Hajiya Falmata Abacha said the training programme covered a wide range of technical and vocational skills, designed to help participants establish small and medium-scale enterprises.
Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting that the training had given them confidence and practical knowledge to start their own businesses.
