Parents have been advised to support health workers in ensuring the successful polio immunization in their communities.
The Council chairman of Sanga Local Government Area, Yakubu Usman Anto who made the call during the flag off campaign of Polio immunization in the area.
In his welcoming address the overseer of Arak Chiefdom Mr. Gomna Ahmadu expressed happiness with the initiative, saying the present administration is up to the task of ensuring efficient health care delivery across the state.
In her remarks, the health Secretary, Sanga Local government Mrs. Ruth Yohanna called on parents to always avail their children for the exercise and ensure regular checkup whenever they experience any health challenges.
The polio immunization campaign witnessed the presence of some government officials and traditional title holders in the area.
Similarly, in an effort to improve the healthcare delivery in the area, Chikun local Government Council has distributed one hundred and three megaphones across the twelve Wards of the Primary Healthcare Centers in the area.
The Council Chairman Engineer Salasi Nuhu Musa made the Donation while flagging off the second-round of polio immunization exercise held at Hausawa Road, Nasarawa, Kaduna.
Engineer Musa explained that the present administration in the state has given priority to the health sector, hence the need for parents to make use of the opportunity to present their children for the polio immunization exercise.
Also, the Health Secretary, Chikun local Government, Dr. Amos Bitrus Bossam, has called on caregiver and good people of Nasarawa to present their children from 0-59 months for the immunization.
In a goodwill message, the Esu Chikun, Sa Gbagyi ll, Mr. Ishaku Yari, who was represented by the Traditional Focal Person, Mr. Yakubu Baba, urged traditional leaders to inform the people on the importance of polio immunization in the area.
Kebbi State government has taken delivery of two million doses of vaccines from the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, for mass immunization against the re-emergence of polio variants in parts of the state.
The State Health Promotion Officer, Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Mallam Yusuf Umar Sauwa, at a media parley in Birnin Kebbi said the exercise will cover children under five years to immediately curb the transmission of the variant virus.
He said the state government will doing the needful to ensure the provision of material support, staffing and logistics towards quality coverage in all communities, towns and villages.
The state health promotion officer, said for now there is zero case of affliction throughout the state but they will carry out mass vaccination campaign to the affected communities such as Jega, Koko, Gwandu and others to curb its circulation.
