To create a sustainable ecosystem and advance the Agenda 2063 vision of “The Africa We Want”, the African Union Commission (AUC), in collaboration with the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), has voted $50 million to support researchers in Nigeria.
Head of Communications and Influencing at ACBF, Fatou Diouf, who stated this in a statement said the transformative initiative, funded by the World Bank, will elevate African think tanks to become architects of cross-border development policy.
Speaking at the grand launch, Lead Economist at the World Bank, Samer Al-Samarraire marked that Africa possesses significant potential, yet simultaneously faces persistent challenges, underscoring the importance of the initiative.
On her part, Deputy Chairperson of the AUC, Selma Malika Haddadi said there is a pressing need to engage African think tanks in conducting credible research that is pertinent to policy change and the continent’s growth.
