Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Jalingo, have recovered Arms at a bandits’ hideout in Ikyaior village, Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Acting Assistant Director, Army public Relation officer 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Jalingo, Lieutenant Umar Mohammed, said the operation followed credible intelligence on activities of bandits at the hideout.
He said one man known as “Full Fire,” was allegedly harbouring armed criminals at Sabon-Gida Leke, Ikyaior village.
Lieutenant Mohammed explained that after receiving credible intelligence, the troops conducted a thorough search of the area, recovering 3 AK-47 magazines, 3 FN rifle magazines, 3 rifle slings, 2 FN rifle breech blocks and slides, 1 AK-47 firing mechanism.
Other arms recovered include 2 FN rifle stocks, 2 FN rifle springs, 1 mini-telescopic sight, 1 AK-47 rifle butt, 1 FN rifle bag, 1 badminton bag, 2 charms and 1 flashlight among others.
The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their swift response, high sense of professionalism, and commitment to duty.
He reassured the people of Taraba that the brigade would remain vigilant, proactive, and resolute in sustaining ongoing operations aimed at ridding the State of criminal elements.
General Uwa also called on members of the public to continue to support security agencies with credible and timely information, noting that such collaboration remains vital in consolidating peace and security across Taraba and its environs.
